THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has parted ways with a top executive and the most prominent face of its COVID-19 response.
In a memo to staff obtained by TBNewswatch from two different sources, hospital president and CEO Rhonda Crocker-Ellacott tells staff the hospital is embarking on a reorganization of the senior leadership team, effective immediately.
"Dr. Stewart Kennedy will no longer be in the role of (executive vice-president). We wish Dr. Kennedy well in his future endeavours. An announcement on the acting EVP Medical and Academics, will be made shortly," Crocker-Ellacott states in the memo.
The memo says Amanda Bjorn, the executive vice-president of people, culture and strategy at the hospital, will assume the role of acting interim executive vice-president of Cancer Care Ontario, regional programs, supports and strategy and planning.
Amy Carr was named interim chief human resources officer.
Kennedy was the executive vice-president of regional programs, clinical supports and medical affairs. Until recently he led the regional's COVID-19 incident management response, when the job was given to Dr. Peter Voros, without explanation.
A hospital spokesperson said policy dictates they do not comment publicly on personnel matters.
The memo does not indicate why Kennedy, who still appears on the hospital website, is no longer on the executive team.
