Students at Woodcrest School were evacuated for a short time this morning after a fire broke out in the school's kitchen.
Fire crews were dispatched to the school at around 9:30 a.m. The blaze was said to have ignited in the kitchen and the area was evacuated within minutes.
Acting Fire Capt. Dirk Stadey says the fire was small and was put out very quickly, so kids could come back inside from the cold temperatures outdoors. Stadey says within 10 minutes all students were in the gymnasium of the school while fire crews ventilated the rest of the school.
Stadey says the inspection crew will be looking into the fire, but school continued as usual after the fire was extinguished.
