Kiwanis Club of Thunder Bay Media Release

On Dec. 3 the Kiwanis Club of Thunder Bay held their annual cheque presentation night at the Prince Arthur Hotel.

This is one of the most important nights of the year for the club where members get to hear how the funds they have raised are helping the organizations they support and most importantly how it is helping the children and families.

Don Macdougall, Chair of the Community Services Committee and Jim Bennett, Club President presented over $10,000 in cheques to representatives of Blessings in a Backpack, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Confederation College, Easter Seals, Faye Peterson House, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, Staples Business Depot, Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association and Wesway.

There were several tears in the audience after hearing the representatives speak so passionately about how much they appreciate the support of the club.

Each year the Westfort and Thunder Bay Kiwanis Clubs hold their Harley Davidson Motorcycle Raffle.

The proceeds from this raffle are shared equally among both clubs and it is this raffle that allows the club to continue supporting these organizations every year. They would like to thank members of the community for purchasing tickets and supporting the different fundraising events they hold during the year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
