THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead District School Board has hired a new superintendent of education.
Jane Lower, a former board employee who spent the past two years as a superintendent of education with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board in Kenora, will start her new position in mid-November.
“The Lakehead District School Board has many strengths and inspires innovation, creativity, and achievement. I look forward to working with students, families, and the community, and increasing opportunities for positive educational experiences and outcomes for all,” said Lower, the student success lead at the Lakehead board prior to taking on her current role.
Lower, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, taught at the former Sir Winston Churchill CVI in Thunder Bay before becoming a school administrator.
Lakehead Public Schools director of education Sherri-Lynne Pharand, who worked with Lower in Kenora, said Lower’s experience at the Keewatin-Patricia School Board will be an asset at the Thunder Bay board.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jane Lower back to Lakehead Public Schools and look forward to her upcoming contributions and profound commitment to education in Northwestern Ontario. Her strengths will be a great addition to our talented senior team,” said Pharand.
Lower’s hiring increases the board’s superintendent of education count to three — its traditional contingent. She joins A.J. Keene and Michelle Probizanski.
The board also has a superintendent of business.
