THUNDER BAY – Prospective Students were invited to spend time on Lakehead University’s campus Saturday afternoon to get a feel of what Lakehead would look like for them.
Lakehead’s Fall open house, which saw over 200 prospective students and supporters from the city and surrounding region registered to tour the campus and gain insights into the university’s academic programs.
Attendees were also able to learn more about student life through informational sessions which spoke about topics like financial aid bursaries and student support.
Faculty and current students were also available for visitors to speak to about Lakehead so that prospective students could get a personal perspective on campus life.
Andrea Tarsitano, vice-provost, students, and registrar, says that getting a chance to learn about Lakehead in person is an important first step in knowing what Lakehead is all about.
“We have faculty members from across all of our faculties and program areas here to share with our future students more about the Lakehead experience, [and] our exceptional academic offerings, including what to expect as a student studying in that particular area or discipline,” she said.
Tarsitano says those who missed the event can register for a one-on-one campus tour anytime.
“365 days a year, so, if a student wasn't able to join us for today, we'd be happy to have them for a campus tour another day as well,” she said.
“It is extremely beneficial to come and learn, meet face-to-face with our faculty members as well as our staff who support our students. It's a great way to ask questions, learn more, and discover the benefits and the advantages of a Lakehead education.”
