NORTH BAY – The Lakehead Thunderwolves want to go out with their heads held high.

The women’s basketball team, eliminated from postseason contention last weekend after suffering a one-point home-court loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues, rebounded on Friday night with a 77-68 road win over the Nipissing Lakers.

Kirpa Brar came off the bench to score 19 points, adding four rebounds and three assists for LU, who improved to 5-16, playing on the penultimate night of the OUA regular season.

Ally Burke chipped in 14 for the Thunderwolves and Keira Chow and Allison Read, both Thunder Bay products, added eight points each.

The Thunderwolves trailed the Lakers 37-35 at the half, but outscored Nipissing 18-9 in the third to take control of the contest.

Nipissing’s Sophie Milner scored 21 points to lead all scorers, adding 10 rebounds for the double-double.

Lakehead hits the road on Saturday for Sudbury, where they’ll wrap up the 2024-25 campaign with a game against the Laurentian Voyageurs.
