KINGSTON, Ont. – The Queen’s Gaels had only lost once in 18 outings heading into Friday night’s play.

The No. 3 team in the country wasn’t likely to add a second loss against the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team, a squad with just one win in its first 18 OUA regular season contests.

A 21-8 second quarter and a 33-point third assured that wouldn’t happen.

Isabella Belvedere put up 21 points and Julia Chadwick had a double-double, scoring 16 points and adding 14 rebounds as the Gaels romped to a 94-50 home-court win.

Tiffany Reynolds, whose university basketball career will come to a close next weekend at home agsinst Algoma and Carleton, led LU with 13 points. Hana Whalen put up 10, while rookie Sara Azzolina had another strong game, scoring eight points in a starting role.

Lakehead (1-18) will wrap up their final road trip of 2022-23 against 3-16 Ontario Tech.
