Last week in numbers: OPP Thunder Bay calls for service

OPP saw a slight increase in occurrences last week in the Thunder Bay area.

THUNDER BAY — Officers were busier last week outside of the city when it came to occurrences.

OPP reported a total of 272 calls during last week's reporting period of March 17 and 23.

Close to 56 per cent of those calls were for eTickets, traffic complaints, and collisions.

Officers issuing various eTickets represent 112 calls for service, while 26 of them were for traffic complaints, and 13 were for collisions being reported.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) was rolled out across the province in 2014, and it is an efficient system for reporting certain minor incidents and crimes.

These numbers are not representative of police activity in the city at large, as the Thunder Bay Police Service has jurisdiction over the municipality itself and tracks calls for service separately.
