THUNDER BAY — Calls for service with the OPP went down during last week's reporting period.

Officers responded to 238 occurrences, down by 34 calls compared to the week before.

The majority of calls went to police responding to 97 eTicket calls, conducting 15 R.I.D.E. program checks, and attending 15 traffic complaint calls.

Police laid 25 criminal code charges and 75 Highway Traffic Act charges over the last week.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system, which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

Citizen Self Reporting (CSR) was rolled out across the province in 2014, and it is an efficient system for reporting certain minor incidents and crimes.

These numbers are not representative of police activity in the city at large, as the Thunder Bay Police Service has jurisdiction over the municipality itself and tracks calls for service separately.
