THUNDER BAY — OPP saw a 21 per cent increaes in calls for service last week in Thunder Bay.

Officers responded to 289 occurrences, compared to the 238 calls from the week before.

The majority of incidents involved police responding to 131 eTicket calls, conducting 18 R.I.D.E. program checks, and attending 16 traffic complaint calls.

OPP laid a total of 120 charges during this reporting period. Eight criminal code charges were laid and the remaining 112 charges  fell under the Highway Traffic Act.

The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system - Citizen Self Reporting (CSR), which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.

These numbers are not representative of police activity in the city at large, as the Thunder Bay Police Service has jurisdiction over the municipality itself and tracks calls for service separately.
