THUNDER BAY — The number of calls made to provincial police in the Thunder Bay area was about the same last week as it was the week before.
From April 7 to 13, OPP received a total of 291 calls for Thunder Bay, two more than in the previous week.
Most incidents involved police responding to driving issues, including 131 eTicket calls and 24 traffic complaints, as well as 17 incidents stemming from R.I.D.E. program exercises.
OPP laid a total of 163 charges during this reporting period, 83 per cent of which were for incidents under the Highway Traffic Act.
The OPP is reminding the public about its online reporting system - Citizen Self Reporting (CSR), which can be used as an alternative to having an officer attend a scene for a minor incident.
These numbers are not representative of police activity in the city at large, as the Thunder Bay Police Service has jurisdiction over the municipality itself and tracks calls for service separately.
