Latest indoor turf concept will be available to the public

On Wednesday, the public is invited to the TBCA for an open house on the most recent design concept for a possible indoor turf facility.

THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay is taking another look at a possible turf facility for the area.

As part of the ongoing discussions of a possible turf facility in Thunder Bay, the city is hosting an open house for the public to attend and gather more information.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, the public will be able to attend an open house at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium from 4 pm to 7 pm.

There, attendees will be able to see the proposed site, facility design concept, floor plan, amenities, standard of construction, and project costs, among other available information.

In September, city council voted to make a hangar-like design beside the Community Auditorium as its preferred option for an indoor turf facility, bucking a staff recommendation to stick with Chapples Park.
