TORONTO — The Law Society of Ontario has revoked the licence to practice of Thunder Bay lawyer Daniel JW Matson.
The decision by a law society panel follows a hearing that was held Monday in Toronto.
Matson's licence was initially suspended on a provisional basis in 2017 after allegations of professional misconduct including misleading some clients about the progress in their cases, as well as fabricating court orders and other documents.
The LSO later alleged that he had also failed to report to it – as required by legislation – that he was charged with criminal offences in 2019.
Thunder Bay Police had charged him with obstructing justice, forgery and personation after an investigation that was started in 2017 when police received information from the law society.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
