THUNDER BAY — Traffic was disrupted Wednesday in a one-block section of Red River Road after a break was discovered in an underground water line.
The line feeds the headquarters of EcoSuperior Environmental Programs.
EcoSuperior staff notified the city after observing a pool of water in front of the building on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the city clarified on Wednesday afternoon that the line was cracked, and that the leak was not the result of a pinhole in the line.
Excavation of Red River Road began Wednesday morning.
The repairs required the city to block off both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane between Hill Street and Rupert Street.
A spokesperson said the repair work was expected to be complete by 5:00 p.m.
NOTES: 1. This story has been updated to include new information from the city about the completion time for the repairs. 2. An earlier version of this story indicated a pinhole leak was the source of the water. The story was changed to include clarification subsequently provided by the City of Thunder Bay
