Learn how to declutter your kitchen with a local author's new book

The Clean Kitchen Coach's new book will transform readers kitchens in just one week.

THUNDER BAY – After decluttering kitchens for over 10 years, The Clean Kitchen Coach launched a book that acts a guide to transform kitchens in seven days.

Fiona Jean, better known as The Clean Kitchen Coach, launched her newest book 7 Days to a Clutter-Free Kitchen at the Stop and Shop Market (in the CLE Heritage Building) on Saturday.

“(The book) helps people to evaluate why it would be important to them to start decluttering their kitchen and how they can go about that,” Jean said.

It is a seven-day journal, but it does not have to be done in seven consecutive days, she added.

“The idea is that there's seven different methods for declutter.

“Some people are positive, some people are negative, some people are fast and some people are slow. It takes a combination of those innate traits to allow you to discover your personal declutter style.”

Saturday is the official launch day of the book, Jean said, and it is also available for purchase on Amazon.

Jean has been going into homes to declutter for over 10 years, and used her personal experience in writing this book.

“The number one reason why people don't have me come into their home to declutter, is because they feel embarrassed. There's no need to feel embarrassed, but that's the reality.

“I decided to write a book so that they could just do it at their own pace and not have to feel that somebody is there watching them,” she said.

Jean said a lot of people had purchased her first book, The Busy Mom’s Guide to a Clean Kitchen.

“They said how empowering it was to be able to learn to cook using methods instead of recipes.

“I’ve already had customers today that purchased my last book and came back to buy my next book.”

Jean is currently working on four other books, and had three books available for purchase on Saturday, 7 Days to a Clutter-Free Kitchen, The Busy Mom’s Guide to a Clean Kitchen, and 7 Days to Food Freedom.

“There are lots of studies about how clutter impacts our mental health. I think in today's world, there's an epidemic of anxiety. A super simple way of alleviating anxiety is to declutter your space,” she said.

Jean mentioned she hosts a free declutter Zoom class every Wednesday from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
