It’s official, Don Rusnak is in the hunt for the federal Liberal nomination in Thunder Bay-Rainy River.
The 39-year-old says his campaign will focus on the economic and social issues facing residents of the riding he hopes to represent in Parliament.
“We need to understand that everything is connected, that economic issues are connected to social issues and vice-versa,” Rusnak said in a release issued on Monday night.
He went on to say government must spend their money wisely, in places it is needed most.
“It wouldn’t be consistent with Canadian values to not help your neighbour when they needed it most,” Rusnak, adding the federal government needs to form partnerships with other levels of government to fix the numerous problems in Thunder Bay-Rainy River.
“The provincial and local governments need partners that will work collaboratively with them to solve the issues facing the people of the riding.”
A forestry graduate at Lakehead University, he went on to study law at the University of Manitoba, were he graduated in 2004, including a year at the prestigious Osgood Hall Law School.
He’ll be up against Vince Riccio and Randy Boyd.
NDP incumbent John Rafferty and second-time Conservative candidate Mauren Comuzzi-Stehmann will take on the winner in the Oct. 19 federal election.
