THUNDER BAY — The Friends of the Library have made a former city resident $32,325 richer.

Kingston, Ont.’s Pam Petrie, who grew up in Thunder Bay, on Thursday was revealed as the winner of the March Friends 50/50 draw and said she’s taken part in every draw to date.

Her plans for the windfall are modest, she said in a release issued by the Friends of Library.

“I plan on going out for a nice dinner and putting the rest into my savings,” Petrie said. “I will also buy tickets for your next Library draw.”

Proceeds from the 50/50 draw will be used toward renovations needed to turn the lower level of Waverley Library into a large, new children’s library.

“We can’t imagine a better use for these funds than in support of a new space for children’s programs and books,” said Friends of the Library president Fran Duke.

“A new children’s library will benefit the whole community, and we hope Thunder Bay will be as excited as we are to support this plan by buying tickets for the Friends 50/50.”

Tickets for the fifth draw are on sale at www.friends5050.ca.
