THUNDER BAY — The Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library's second 50/50 draw has paid off for Carlee Crowe and her family.

The city resident had the winning numbers in this month's draw, giving her a prize of $34,177.

Crowe said the money will help her family with some major purchases, including replacements for a few aging appliances.

"We've also been saving for a new, more reliable vehicle, and this will help immensely. We're so excited. I feel so fortunate and very grateful."

Crowe added that when she first learned about the draw, she bought tickets right away because she saw it as a great opportunity to support the TBPL's programming.

Fran Duke, president of the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library, said the proceeds of the lottery support enriching programs for all ages, collections with something for everyone to enjoy, and essential improvements to library facilities.

Tickets for the third draw are now on sale online.
