THUNDER BAY — The CEO of the Thunder Bay Public Library will moderate a debate among the city's five candidates for mayor.
The TBPL announced Tuesday it will also host a series of question-and-answer sessions for the candidates for city council.
Library CEO Richard Togman will pose the questions to the candidates at all of the events, which will also be livestreamed.
The mayoral debate is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the library's Waverley branch.
Other meetings include:
- Oct. 3 at 6:30 pm at Mary JL Black Library – Neebing and Westfort candidates
- Oct. 4 at 6:30 pm at Mary JL Black Libary – Northwood and McKellar candidates
- Oct. 5 at 6:30 pm at Waverley Library – Current River, McIntyre and Red River candidates
- Oct. 6 at 6:00 pm at Brodie Libary – At large candidates
While the session for the mayoral candidates will be a formal debate, the others will have a different structure.
The at-large candidates' session will take place in a "meet-and-greet" format, where voters will get an opportunity to engage with the 24 candidates one-on-one.
The ward sessions will have two parts, the first being meet-and-greet and the second being more structured with questions posed to the candidates by Togman.
TBPL says it will livestream all events on its website and its YouTube channel.
