Lieutenant Governor appoints 29 people to Order of Ontario

Of the 29 appointees, none are from Northwestern Ontario.

TORONTO – Ontario’s lieutenant governor announced 29 new appointees to the Order of Ontario on New Year’s Day, though none are from Northwestern Ontario.

The vast majority of this year’s appointees hail from the Greater Toronto Area.

Notables on the list include broadcaster Marilyn Denis, Zanana Akande, the first African-Canadian woman to serve as a provincial cabinet minister and Cutler, Ont.’s Elizabeth Richer, who has done transformative work in the area of Indigenous social services.

Other appointees include Martin Antony, Todd Archibald, Lise Bourgeois, Rudolph Bratty, Nick Di Donato, Brian Dunne, Diane Dupuy, Jeremy Freeman, Vivek Goel, Brian Gover, Margery Holman, Royson James, Kevin Junor, Catherin Karakatsanis, Winston Kassim, Danielle Lussier, Alejandro Marangoni, Mina Mawani, Howard Ovens, Jeanne-Lucille Pattison, Poonam Puri, Elizabeth Richer, Jean Seely, Walied Soliman, Juliana Sprott, Jennifer Suess and Joseph Vitale.

"The 2024 appointees to the Order of Ontario have enriched the lives of countless people in our province and well beyond,” said Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

“Together, they have attained the highest level of excellence in many fields, and may we all be inspired by their remarkable contributions.”
