THUNDER BAY – About 31,000 local residents will be converted to community mailboxes next year.
In an email statement issued Friday, Canada Post spokesman Phil Legault confirmed that the postal codes starting with P7A, P7B, P7C and P7E will be the next to be converted from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes.
The conversion will take place in 2016.
The conversion is part of a five-year initiative to convert a third of Canadian addresses that still have home delivery to the community mailbox system.
About 1 million residents in Canada have already been converted.
Affected residents will receive the first of several communications from Canada Post in the coming days.
