Local business launches Blankets For the Bay

A portion of every large pizza sale will be donated to Shelter House. You can also drop off a new blanket or make a monetary donation at their Waterloo Street North location.

Papa John’s has a challenge for other businesses this holiday season.

Spokesperson Bryan McGauley, while unveiling the Blankets For The Bay initiative earlier this week, said he'd love to see every business in Thunder Bay come down to the restaurant with a blanket or a monetary donation, or buy a large pizza to help Shelter House.

"We [would] really appreciate if that happens," he said.

A portion of every large pizza sale will be donated to Shelter House. Residents can also drop off a new blanket or make a monetary donation at their Waterloo Street North location.

McGauley added, “My wife and I have been in business for a long time, [even before launching] Papa John’s. We think it's [especially] important for every business to give back to the community.”

While this is the first year for these fundraising efforts, the husband-and-wife team have done other initiatives in the past like Sock it to us, which provided free socks to those less fortunate.

There is no end date for this initiative.
