THUNDER BAY — A local construction firm has mobilized to help those impacted by last week’s ice storm in the Orillia, Ont. area.

Earlier this week, TIL-KA Construction DKI sent its disaster recovery team to southern Ontario, where the ice storm has left a trail of widespread disruption, leading to significant damage to transportation infrastructure, which has also hurt emergency response times.

The ice storm, according to Orillia Matters, left tens of thousands of residents without power and led to a state of emergency being called after trees were snapped and fell on power lines, sidewalks and roads, leaving some roads impassable and city parks closed.

More freezing rain hampered efforts this week.

TIL-KA Construction DKI specializes in damage assessment, debris removal and structural repairs.
