A local lawyer is being named to the province’s highest honour.
MPP Michael Gravelle (Lib., Thunder Bay – Superior North) announced Tuesday that lawyer David Shannon is being recognized with an appointment to the Order of Ontario. Gravelle said the appointment recognized Shannon’s contributions to human rights and advocacy for people with disabilities.
“David Shannon is a true champion of human rights,” Gravelle is quoted as saying in news release issued by the MPP’s office Tuesday afternoon. “His dedication to inclusion for people with disabilities has helped improve and even transform the lives of so many people in our region.”
David Shannon and 29 other Order of Ontario appointees will participate in an official ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 27 at Queen’s Park in Toronto.
The Order of Ontario was created in 1986 and is meant to recognize the highest level of individual excellence and achievement in any field.
