THUNDER BAY - It's World Hepatitis Day and to kick it off, a new clinic in Thunder Bay is celebrating its grand opening.
Liver Care Northwest opened its doors at the Health Services Building on Oliver Road in May 2016.
The clinic follows the lead of parent company, Liver Care Canada, to treat residents of Ontario's northwest for liver disease.
For its grand opening Thursday, the local branch held a free barbeque and provided visitors with free liver testing.
Clinical Manager Tannice Fletcher-Stackhouse said their new clinic will increase access to care for all liver diseases.
Fletcher-Stackhouse added that the clinic will soon be offering mobile services to bring liver care to the smaller communities in Northwestern Ontario.
