Local man faces child-pornography charges

A 73-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday after a raid on a Frederica Street residence.

THUNDER BAY – A 73-year-old Thunder Bay man has been arrested and charged with child pornography-related offences.

According to a release issued on Thursday by city police, the cyber crimes unit began an investigation in November 2024 after receiving information that a local internet user was suspected of uploading a file that contained child sexual abuse material.

Aa a result, police raided a Frederica Street East residence on Wednesday, seized multiple electronic devices and arrested the accused.

Ronald Howard Wrigley has been charged with possession of child pornography.

He appeared in court and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

The charge has not been tested in a court of law.
