The Salvation Army in Thunder Bay has a new leader.
Major Rob Kerr was introduced Friday as the organization's new executive director and his wife Shelley is the Salvation Army's new chaplain.
The couple and their two children have moved to the city from the Toronto area. Friday, they participated in a Spiritual Leadership Affirmation at the Salvation Army headquarters.
Mayor Keith Hobbs was there to welcome the Kerrs to the city. He says the new leader has some big shoes to fill, replacing former director Mervyn Halvorsen.
One of Halvorsen's final duties was requesting city funding for a new Salvation Army shelter. Kerr says after seeing the old building on Cumberland Street, he plans to continue that lobbying effort.
