THUNDER BAY -- Students with Pope John Paul Senior Elementary School will join forces with Thunder Bay Auto Parts to host a weekend battery drive.
The battery drive is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Thunder Bay Auto Parts. The battery collection includes regular household batteries, as well as, car, truck, motorcycle, marine, ATV and other batteries.
For every motor vehicle battery donated, Thunder Bay Auto Parts will donate $3 to the United Way. At the end of the event, Thunder Bay Auto Parts will double the donation to benefit the United Way.
The battery drive is part of the Gold Certified Eco School's plan to further reduce it's carbon footprint and learn the importance of properly disposing the batteries. The main event will also be open for members of the community to take advantage of dropping off any electronic waste.
The public is also encouraged to dust off old radios and CD players that are no longer in use. Have an old television that you cannot stand to see in the garage? Bring that down too.
