Local unemployment climbs to 6.3 per cent: StatsCan

According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate in the Thunder Bay area was 6.3 per cent in March, which is up from 5.9 per cent in January.

Only Guelph and Hamilton recorded lower jobless numbers in Ontario.

Provincially, the unemployment rate remained steady at 7.7 per cent, while the national unemployment rate climbed to 7.2 per cent from seven per cent.
