Local wrestlers win gold, silver in duals competition

Wrestling will wrap up on Sunday

THUNDER BAY -- It was a pretty good day on the mat for local wrestlers at the Ontario Winter Games.

Team North West captured gold in the women's competition and silver in the boys' side of the draw.

The girls team includes Madelaine Blain, Medelin Jose, Izzy Tobin, Hayden Reinelt, Mylie Baccari, Ava Hay, Lillian Savage, Shevaun Wilson, Emily Harris and Kylie Bocha.

The boys team includes Anton Rozic, William Gerry, Noah Lanry, Merric BeauParlant, Tristan Robins, Koen Hurlbert, Parker Evans, Samuel Prosser, Tyler Poperechny and Louis Bouchard, Jr.

South West Ontario took silver in the women's competition, while North East Ontario won bronze. On the men's side, Eastern Ontario wound up with gold and North East Ontario took bronze.

The wrestling wraps on Sunday at Lakehead University. The public is invited to watch and admission is free.
