The possibility of having a driver’s licence revoked is a concern for many seniors.
This week, dozens of older drivers received a refresher course on how to drive safely, so they can remain on the roads.
The Ministry of Transportation's Tom Marinis was one of three presenters discussing road safety at the 55-Plus Centre.
He says it's important for seniors to plan their travel route and be aware of weather and road conditions before leaving home. After the age of 80, motorists are required by the MTO to undergo road knowledge and visions tests, and complete a group education session every two years.
Marinis says seniors will receive a letter in the mail in advance of their 80th birthday reminding them of the need to complete the required testing.
