ESTIMATED $121 MILLION IN TOTAL PRIZING UP FOR GRABS WITH LOTTO MAX AND LOTTO 6/49
Toronto, ON – It’s a special occasion when both LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 offer large jackpots in the same weekend. The combined prizing for Canada’s two national lottery games is an estimated $121 million, including a record breaking LOTTO MAX jackpot.
LOTTO MAX is offering its biggest jackpot ever on Friday, July 17, 2015 with an estimated $55 million up for grabs plus an estimated 30 MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million each. The record jackpot is made possible because of a change to the game. Starting with the July 17 draw, the LOTTO MAX jackpot cap has been raised from $50 million to $60 million.
Meanwhile, the LOTTO 6/49 jackpot for Saturday, July 18, 2015 is estimated to be $35 million, in addition to the Guaranteed $1 Million Prize Draw.
By the numbers:
• The combined LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 prizing this weekend is the largest it has been since November, 2012.
• The last time both LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 offered large jackpots over $30 million in one weekend was Friday January 16 and Saturday, January 17, 2014. This has happened 8 times since LOTTO MAX launched in 2009.
• $50 million LOTTO MAX jackpots have been won seven times during the summer months since the game launched.
• Eighty-three LOTTO MAX jackpots have been offered in the same time frame.
• There have been 7 draws since the last LOTTO 6/49 jackpot was won.
Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario LOTTO MAX players have won over $2 billion in prizes, including 41 jackpot wins and 253 winning MAXMILLIONS tickets from all across the province.
For each $5 play, LOTTO MAX players receive three sets of seven numbers ranging from one to forty-nine. Players must match all seven numbers, in any one set, to win the jackpot and the MAXMILLIONS prizes.
Since LOTTO 6/49 launched, Ontario players have won more than $10 billion in prizes, including 1,309 jackpot wins. As of July 11, 2015, there have been 3284 LOTTO 6/49 draws. For more information, please visit olg.ca and click on Lotteries.
LOTTO 6/49 includes a Guaranteed $1 Million Prize Draw along with each and every regular draw. There have been 218 Guaranteed $1 Million Prize Draws to date. Ninety-one of the winning tickets have been sold in Ontario.
Players now have some extra time in the evening to purchase lottery tickets for the draw that night. Tickets for the next LOTTO MAX draw can be purchased at authorized OLG retailers until 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015. Tickets for the LOTTO 6/49 draw can be purchased until 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 for that evening’s draw.
