THUNDER BAY — Student athletes, school staff and others were required to leave the St. Patrick High School property late Monday afternoon when the school received word of a possible "low risk threat" after school hours.
The nature of the threat or how it was communicated was not disclosed in a brief statement from the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board on Monday.
In an update later Monday evening, the board said the Thunder Bay Police Service had deemed the school safe "after a thorough investigation." Officers had remained at the school after the evacuation Monday as a precaution.
The school is cleared to reopen for a regular school day on Tuesday, the board said.
The TBCDSB is asking anyone with information that may assist investigators to contact police at 684-1200 or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers at (807) 623-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com.
St. Patrick High School is located at 621 Selkirk Street South in the city's south end.
