THUNDER BAY — A weekend sweep at home to open the 2022-23 season has landed Lakehead's men's basketball team in the top 10 of the national rankings.

The Thunderwolves are the No. 8 team in the country, according to the U Sports rankings, which came out on Tuesday.

LU downed Guelph 91-77 last Friday night and edged Waterloo 63-58 on Saturday.

Carleton, not surprisingly, leads the pack at No. 1, followed closely by Ottawa in second and Brock in third. Alberta, with two losses to open their Canada West campaign, is fourth.

Lakehead's men's wrestling team also cracked the top 10, ranked sixth.
