KENORA, Ont. -- A pair of major highways in Northwestern Ontario remain closed due to weather conditions.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police, Highway 17 between the Manitoba border and Sistonen's Corners has been closed in both directions because of poor visibility and snow cover.

The highway was first closed on Thursday.

Similarly, Highway 71 between Kenora and Fort Frances is also closed. Highway 11 from Fort Frances to Atikokan is also closed, as is Highway 502 near Dryden, between Highway 11 and Highway 17.

Ontario 511 has not provided an estimated reopening time for any of the highways.
