THUNDER BAY – If it was good enough for Joel Embiid and Scottie Barnes, it was good enough for Agot Makeer.

The Thunder Bay teen, fresh off leading Canada to a silver medal at the FIBA U-17 women’s world championship, this week announced she’s leaving Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto to compete for Florida’s Montverde Academy.

Makeer, the sixth-ranked prospect out of all 2025 graduates, played for St. Ignatius during her Grade 9 and Grade 10 seasons.

“Excited for this new chapter,” Makeer posted to her X account on Tuesday, announcing the move.

The 17-year-old averaged 17.7 points for Canada at the U17s, hauling in seven rebounds and making four steals a game over seven games at the international tournament.

Makeer has narrowed her college choice to six teams: Connecticut, Duke, Michigan State, South Carolina, Kentucky and North Carolina.
