THUNDER BAY - Hannah Alper believes youth in this city can change the world.
A kid herself, the 11-year-old is proof that children can make a difference. She's already organized community cleanups, launched Free The Children's We Create Change campaign and right now is on a 10-week, 90-stop tour for the organization, which rolled to Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute Tuesday morning.
Alper said local students have already made a global impact through fundraising efforts for Free the Children.
"It's so amazing what they're doing," she said.
The tour also includes pop-rock group Neverest, who had the crowd clapping along to their hit song "About Us" before motivational speaker Spencer West hit the stage.
"We're trying to motivate but mostly celebrate," Alper said.
Alper said it's amazing to feel the power and energy of youth in the crowd on their tour.
Westgate is no stranger to Free the Children as students were surprised with a trip to Ottawa for the organization's We Day earlier this year.
"It was so awesome," Alper said of the event at Canadian Tire Centre where she gave a motivational speech.
