Man arrested after taking out fire hydrant

The Thunder Bay Police has charged a man with impaired driving after his vehicle veered off of Syndicate Ave. near Empire Street, shearing off a fire hydrant. When the vehicle struck the hydrant around 2:50 a.m.

The Thunder Bay Police has charged a man with impaired driving after his vehicle veered off of Syndicate Ave. near Empire Street, shearing off a fire hydrant.

When the vehicle struck the hydrant around 2:50 a.m.,, water shot into the air, causing what a spokesman for the police called "significant flooding and street damage." The hydrant damaged two other vehicles.

Officers were able to locate and apprehend the suspect at the scene.
