Provincial police have released details of a weekend incident at the Pigeon River border crossing that led to multiple charges against a Quebec man.
Officers were dispatched to the border Sunday morning after the Canada Border Services Agency reported someone was attempting to cross the border into the U.S. in a stolen vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the individual was in possession of fraudulent identity documents.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on charges of possession of property obtained by crime, personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or to escape justice, and obstructing a peace officer.
The accused has been remanded into custody pending an appearance in court in Thunder Bay at a later date.
A spokesperson for the CBSA said the agency had no further information to provide about the circumstances of the incident at the border.
