THUNDER BAY — Police responding to a weapons call on the weekend found a suspect carrying an imitation firearm and two concealed knives.

The incident occurred Sunday evening in the 300 block of Cumberland Street North.

Officers located a man matching the description provided by a witness, and were able to take him into custody.

The 35-year-old is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

He appeared in court Monday, and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
