THUNDER BAY – A Thunder Bay man faces multiple charges after allegedly attacking another man with a brick and assaulting three police officers after being taken into custody over the weekend.
The attack occurred after the man, 31, was asked to leave a private residential building on the city’s south side on Saturday morning, the Thunder Bay Police Service stated in a release.
TBPS officers were dispatched to the 200 block of May Street South just after 9 a.m. on Saturday, following reports of an assault with a weapon.
Police say an investigation suggested the accused and an unknown female had been asked to leave a building, when the accused responded by attacking the male who had made the request.
Police learned a male suspect had thrown an object, which the TBPS said was possibly a brick, at a male victim before fleeing toward the 100 block of Simpson Street.
Officers identified and located a 31-year-old Thunder Bay man nearby, taking him into custody just before 9:10 a.m.
While at police headquarters, the accused is alleged to have attacked three police officers.
He now faces charges of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, three counts of assault a peace officer, and one count of failure to comply with a probation order.
The accused appeared in bail court on Saturday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
