THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay police have laid over 30 weapons and assault charges against a 41 year-old man after being called to a local home on Tuesday.
According to a media release issued Friday afternoon, police received reports of “ongoing violence.” With a search warrant, they reportedly seized two firearms along with ammunition.
A suspect was arrested at a different location, outside of city police’s jurisdiction, by the Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement—or ROPE—Squad.
The man was charged with a litany of offences, including five counts each of assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He also faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm, as well as three counts of uttering threats and two counts each of unauthorized possession of a firearm and knowledge of the unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Police say they are not releasing the accused’s name in order to protect the identity of the victims.
The man is in custody and made his first court appearance this week.
