THUNDER BAY — A man wanted in southwestern Ontario in connection with a shooting incident has been arrested by Thunder Bay police.
Michael Allard, 39, of Windsor was apprehended at about 2:30 Saturday morning in the 0 to 50 block of Cumberland Street South.
He had been the subject of an Ontario-wide arrest warrant, and was considered armed and dangerous.
Waterloo Regional Police had advised members of the public not to approach him but to call 911 if he was spotted.
They were looking for him in relation to what they believe was the targeted shooting of a 65-year-old man in Kitchener in September 2022.
The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Windsor Star, Allard has a lengthy criminal record including convictions for several violent robberies, aggravated assault, and drug trafficking.
A Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson told TBnewswatch that arrangements are currently being made to transfer him to their custody.
