THUNDER BAY — Provincial police have released some details about a tragic incident at Silver Falls Provincial Park, northwest of Thunder Bay.
A spokesperson said Wednesday that police received a report at about 3:45 p.m. Monday that someone had fallen into the Kaministiquia River at Silver Falls.
Superior North EMS was notified about a possible drowning.
After OPP, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and paramedics responded to the emergency, the body of a 23-year-old man was located in the water.
He had reportedly gone to the area with a small group of companions to swim.
According to The Tribune, an online news source based in India, the deceased was from that country and had travelled to Thunder Bay two years ago to complete his education.
