Thunder Bay police have laid a range of charges against a 22 year-old man.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay police have charged a 22 year-old man with numerous weapons and drug possession offences after they were called about a suspect with a gun last week.

In a media release issued Monday afternoon, police said they were called to the 200 block of Amelia Street West on March 7 after they got a report of a person who allegedly had a firearm.

Police said the suspect attempted to flee but was arrested and taken into custody. That’s when police said they also found suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.

The accused has been charged with nine separate weapons offences, including assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, having a firearm contrary to court orders and carrying a concealed weapon. He also faces two counts of possessing fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and one count of cocaine possession with the purpose of trafficking.

Police also charged the 22 year-old with multiple counts of failing to comply with court orders.

He remains in custody, police said, with a future court date.
