Adam Delin, 42, appeared in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault.

According to an agreed statement of facts, police were dispatched to a home on the 300 block of Lillian Street the evening of Feb. 6, just after 6 p.m. for reports of an altercation.

Police learned an argument took place between Delin and a female that was known to him. The argument escalated and turned violent, resulting in Delin stabbing a male, also known to him, with a pocketknife.

The man sustained a wound to the abdomen and was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Delin was not at the residence when police arrived but was located a short time later and arrested. He was initially charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, resisting a police officer, and obstructing a police officer for providing a false name upon arrest.

As part of a joint submission, Delin was sentenced to 12 months in custody minus 107 days of pre-sentence custody. Upon his release, Delin will be subject to two years probation. All other charges were marked withdrawn at the request of the Crown.
