THUNDER BAY – An argument at a north side home that escalated to a man suffering a stab wound to the stomach has resulted in the accused being sentenced to 12 months in custody.
Adam Delin, 42, appeared in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault.
According to an agreed statement of facts, police were dispatched to a home on the 300 block of Lillian Street the evening of Feb. 6, just after 6 p.m. for reports of an altercation.
Police learned an argument took place between Delin and a female that was known to him. The argument escalated and turned violent, resulting in Delin stabbing a male, also known to him, with a pocketknife.
The man sustained a wound to the abdomen and was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Delin was not at the residence when police arrived but was located a short time later and arrested. He was initially charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, resisting a police officer, and obstructing a police officer for providing a false name upon arrest.
As part of a joint submission, Delin was sentenced to 12 months in custody minus 107 days of pre-sentence custody. Upon his release, Delin will be subject to two years probation. All other charges were marked withdrawn at the request of the Crown.
