THUNDER BAY – Firefighters were called to rescue a man trapped in mud at a local golf course Monday morning.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters responded to the Thunder Bay Country Club where they discovered an elderly man stuck in the mud up to his waist along the banks of the McIntyre River.

Crews were able to stabilize the man and then, with the use of a hose line, liquefied the mud surrounding him. That allowed for a quick extraction.

Other than being wet, the man said he was find with no injuries to report.

However, he was convinced to go with waiting paramedics to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
