McCarville evens record with win over Homan

SASKATOON -- Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville rink evened its record at 1-1 on Sunday at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, downing Ontario's Rachel Homan 9-5. Homan represented Canada at the 2018 Olympic Games.

SASKATOON -- Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville rink evened its record at 1-1 on Sunday at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, downing Ontario's Rachel Homan 9-5.

Homan represented Canada at the 2018 Olympic Games.

McCarville sored a deuce in the second end and picked up three more in the fourth to take control of the match, leading 5-2 at the time. The teams traded points in the fifth and sixth before Homan scored a pair of her own in the sixth to cut McCarville's lead to one, trailing 6-5.

But McCarville picked one up in the ninth to extend her lead to two and stole two in the 10th clinch victory.

The loss puts Homan in a real hole, the lone team at 0-2 in the 10-team event.

McCarville (1-1) is in a five-way tie for third. McCarville, Sarah Potts, Ashley Sippala and Kendra Lilly take on Casey Scheidegger at 8 p.m.
