LIVERPOOL, N.S. -- Krista McCarville completed a miraculous comeback on Saturday afternoon and will play for one of two Olympic trials spots up for grabs at the Olympic pre-trials in Liverpool, N.S.
McCarville, who trailed 7-3 without hammer in the 10th, stole four to send the match to an extra end, then stole another point to claim an 8-7 victory over Manitoba's Mackenzie Zacharias on Saturday afternoon, sending the Thunder Bay rink into the A-side final against Jaqueline Harrison.
The Thunder Bay team edged Harrison 8-7 during the round robin portion of the event.
The winner of the A-side final advances to the trials, while the losing team advances straight to the B-side final on Sunday for a shot at the second and final Olympic trials berth.
Harrison beat P.E.I.'s Suzanne Birth 8-4 in the other 1-2 match.
Zacharias will take on Corryn Brown in one B-side quarterfinal,while Birt matches up against Saskatechewan's Sherry Anderson in the other. The winners will advance to the semifinals for a shot at the other B-side final berth.
