DRYDEN, Ont. -- the vice-president of Treasury Metals is calling for consultations with Treaty 3 officials after the Grand Council officially opposed the planned Goliath Gold Project.
Treaty 3 First Nations issued a statement last week saying their request for discussions regarding treaty rights has been blatantly ignored.
The statement reads that there is a major concern with the environmental impact the open pit and underground mine could bring.
The project is currently in its environmental permitting process, and vice-president Norm Bush says that document addresses a number of the concerns raised in the release.
He adds that although tensions are rising right now, he has no doubt that everything will work out.
